ONLINE BEHAVIOUR

1. I WILL BE RESPECTFUL ONLINE

  • I will communicate politely and constructively in all online discussions, including social media, messaging groups and club platforms.

2. I WILL NOT POST NEGATIVE OR ABUSIVE COMMENTS

  • I will not engage in bullying, harassment, personal attacks or disrespectful comments about players, families, coaches, referees or other clubs.

3. I WILL PROTECT CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

  • I will follow club photography and safeguarding procedures, obtain the necessary permissions before sharing identifiable photos or videos, and respect the wishes of children and their parents or carers.

4. I WILL REPORT CONCERNS THROUGH THE CORRECT CHANNELS

  • I will raise safeguarding, bullying or other serious concerns with the Club Welfare Officer or the appropriate club or football authority, rather than debating sensitive matters publicly online.

1. WE RESPECT MATCH OFFICIALS

  • Everyone associated with Beighton Juniors FC must treat referees and match officials with respect, regardless of decisions or the result.

2. WE ENCOURAGE POSITIVELY

  • We cheer effort, celebrate improvement and support every player from the touchline without criticism, pressure or negativity.

3. WE LET THE COACHES COACH

  • We avoid shouting conflicting instructions that confuse players. We trust the coaches and allow children to think, learn and make their own decisions.

4. WE CREATE A POSITIVE EXPERIENCE

  • We make matchdays welcoming, enjoyable and inclusive, ensuring every child feels valued and proud to play for their team.

SDJFC TRAFFIC LIGHT SYSTEM - SUPPORTER CONDUCT 

At Beighton Juniors Football Club, we are committed to creating a safe, enjoyable and respectful environment where every child can develop a lifelong love of football.

We proudly support and adopt the Sheffield & District Junior Sunday League Traffic Light Behaviour Framework and the principles of The FA Respect Programme.

Every parent, carer, family member, supporter, volunteer and club official plays an important role in creating a positive football experience for our players. Children should be encouraged, supported and allowed to enjoy football without fear of criticism, intimidation or inappropriate behaviour from adults.

OUR COMMITMENT 

As a club, we will:

  • Promote positive touchline behaviour.
  • Support all referees and match officials.
  • Protect children from abuse or intimidation.
  • Encourage education before disciplinary action wherever appropriate.
  • Apply our Behaviour Traffic Light Framework fairly and consistently.
  • Work alongside the Sheffield & District Junior Sunday League and Sheffield & Hallamshire County FA when serious incidents occur.

🟢 GREEN - POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR

This is the standard expected from everyone attending Beighton Juniors Football Club activities.

Examples of Green Behaviour

  • Encouraging all players.
  • Respecting referee decisions.
  • Supporting coaches and volunteers.
  • Applauding effort from both teams.
  • Remaining positive regardless of the result.
  • Allowing coaches to coach and players to learn.
  • Demonstrating excellent sportsmanship.

CLUB RESPONSE

No action is required.

Positive behaviour helps create the environment every child deserves.

 

🟡 AMBER – BEHAVIOUR REQUIRES INTERVENTION

Amber behaviour is where standards begin to fall below expectations but can usually be corrected through early intervention and education.

Examples of Amber Behaviour

  • Repeatedly shouting tactical instructions.
  • Publicly questioning referee decisions.
  • Negative comments towards players.
  • Challenging opposition supporters.
  • Becoming argumentative on the touchline.
  • Excessive emotional reactions affecting the match environment.

FIRST AMBER WARNING

If an Amber incident occurs:

  • A Beighton Juniors coach or club official will speak privately with the individual.
  • The concern will be explained.
  • The individual will be reminded of the Club's Behaviour Policy and The FA Respect Programme.
  • They will be asked to stop the behaviour immediately.

SECOND AMBER WARNING

If a second Amber warning is received during the same season:

  • The incident will be formally recorded.
  • The individual will be asked to leave the touchline with immediate effect.
  • The Club Welfare Officer will meet with the individual to discuss the incident.
  • Before returning to support their child from the sidelines, the individual must complete a safeguarding and positive touchline behaviour awareness course approved by Beighton Juniors Football Club.
  • Evidence of course completion must be provided to the Club Welfare Officer before permission to return to the touchline is granted.
  • Any further behavioural concerns may result in the matter being escalated to a Red-level breach.

WHY WE TAKE THIS APPROACH

Our aim is to educate rather than punish. We believe that positive role models create positive football environments, and education helps ensure every child enjoys the game.

 

 

🔴 RED – UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOUR

The following behaviours will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

  • Swearing or abusive language.
  • Aggressive or threatening behaviour.
  • Bullying or intimidation.
  • Racist, sexist, homophobic or discriminatory behaviour.
  • Confronting referees, coaches, players or volunteers.
  • Entering the field of play without permission.
  • Physical aggression or attempted assault.
  • Any behaviour that places a child or volunteer at risk.
  • Any conduct that brings Beighton Juniors Football Club or the Sheffield & District Junior Sunday League into disrepute.

IMMEDIATE CLUB ACTION

Where a Red incident occurs, the individual may:

  • Be instructed to leave the venue immediately.
  • Be suspended from attending Beighton Juniors Football Club activities pending investigation.
  • Be referred to the Club Welfare Officer and Club Committee.
  • Be reported to the Sheffield & District Junior Sunday League and Sheffield & Hallamshire County FA where appropriate.

 

 

LEAGUE SANCTIONS

In accordance with the resolution adopted by the Sheffield & District Junior Sunday League Annual General Meeting held on 23 July 2026, any parent, carer or registered supporter found to have committed a Red-level breach of the League's Parent & Supporter Behaviour Framework will be subject to the League's disciplinary procedures.

Where the League determines that the breach meets the threshold established under the AGM resolution:

  • The registered player's membership with their club may be withdrawn for the remainder of the playing season in which the breach occurred.
  • The player's registration within the Sheffield & District Junior Sunday League may also be be revoked for the remainder of that season.
  • Any such action will be administered by the League in accordance with its disciplinary procedures, following any investigation and any applicable right of appeal.

Beighton Juniors Football Club will fully support and comply with all disciplinary decisions made by the Sheffield & District Junior Sunday League.

WELFARE OFFICERS 

Our Welfare Team

At Beighton Juniors FC, the welfare, safeguarding and inclusion of every child is at the heart of everything we do.

Our Welfare Team consists of Tim Maggs and Alicia Howe, both of whom are now FA-qualified Welfare Officers, providing dedicated safeguarding support across the club.

👏 A Big Well Done to Tim

We want to give a special shout-out to Tim, who has put in a huge amount of effort to complete his FA Welfare Officer certification.

Tim has taken the time to undertake the required training and development to ensure he is now fully qualified to the level expected by the FA for a club Welfare Officer.

This is a fantastic achievement and demonstrates the commitment Tim has made to ensuring Beighton Juniors FC has the knowledge, training and safeguarding standards needed to properly support our young players.

We are incredibly proud to have Tim as part of our Welfare Team and appreciate the time and effort he has invested in achieving his qualification.

⭐ Specialist SEND Safeguarding Experience

Alongside Tim, Alicia brings an exceptional and highly valuable level of safeguarding experience to Beighton Juniors FC.

Alicia is also now FA-qualified as a Welfare Officer, but importantly, she brings with her vast professional experience in child safeguarding, particularly within SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) environments.

This specialist experience is a huge asset to our club. Alicia has a strong understanding of the additional safeguarding considerations, communication needs, vulnerabilities and support requirements that children with SEND may experience.

Her experience helps us look beyond simply meeting safeguarding requirements. It gives us a deeper understanding of how we can recognise individual needs, listen to children, identify concerns and create an environment where every player feels safe, understood, valued and included.

Together, Tim and Alicia provide a strong and complementary Welfare Team — combining FA-approved safeguarding training with significant practical safeguarding experience, including specialist SEND knowledge.

Welfare Officer

FA-Certified Welfare Officer – Specialist SEND Experience

Alicia is a fully FA-certified Welfare Officer, supporting the welfare and safeguarding of our players, coaches  and committee members.

Alongside her FA qualification, Alicia brings vast professional experience in child safeguarding, particularly within SEND environments. Her specialist experience gives Beighton Juniors valuable knowledge and understanding of the additional safeguarding, communication and support needs that some children may require.
